STORYWALK® Is Here!

StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time.

-- The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Laminated pages from a children’s picture book are installed along Broadway Street.  As you walk up Broadway from the library, you are directed to the next page in the story.  There are 16 Storywalk stations that begin at the library, continue up Broadway to Main Street, cross Main and continue back down Broadway, with the story's ending at PNC Bank.

Storywalk was funded by a generous grant from General Mills, and the stations were constructed by Kyle Deels' Buckeye Hills class.  Mayor Randy Heath and Street & Alley supervisor Roy Hatten were instrumental in having the stations installed.

A final thank you goes out to the churches, businesses and others who agreed to host a Storywalk Station in front of their buildings.  The story will be changed every 6-8 weeks, depending on weather.
